Accessorize Steampunk Style

Hello everyone I have something fun to share with you today!!

Last weekend my husband and I went to a Halloween party, which I dressed Steampunk Style!!  I had lots of fun putting my costume together.  Between Value Village & Party Stuff I was able to find all the pieces I needed…except the accessories I wanted.

They had some accessories at Party Stuff but they weren’t as elaborate as I hoped and they were a bit more than I wanted to send on a costume.  So what does a girl do………make her own of course!!!

I knew I had plenty of items hiding in my scrap stash that would would perfect for the look I wanted, so I dug out all my charms, chains & gears and got to work!

The necklace was made with a variety of charms, including the propeller charm from 7 Gypsies Aviation Hardware.

This cuff was made completely from scratch using Tim Holtz Grunge Paper as the base, which was colored with Tim Holtz Distress Stain, then stamped with Impression Obsessions Craquelure stamp using Archival Ink in Black.

I used Tim Holtz Gadget Gears Sizzix Die and Grunge Paper to create my base gears, these were colored using Inka Gold in Gold & Copper.  The gears were a little too shiny so I sanded them a bit then added some Distress Stain to grunge them up a bit.  Once I had the base gears together I layered on these metal pieces to finish it off.

Before putting the gears on the cuff I added some Lace Tape and a strap made from Grunge Paper.  To make the strap functional I added on of the Tim Holtz Buckles…how perfect!!

It was lots of fun creating these pieces and they were perfect for finishing off my costume!!

Here’s a not so great photo (Mike took it with his iPhone) of me dressed up…

Thank you for stopping by today, I hope this inspires you to create something you can wear with your scrappy supplies!!
