I don’t know about you but I’m sitting here wondering when summer will stick around, we are getting glimpses of it here & there but I want more warm sunny days. Oh well yucky weather means more crafty time! 🙂
As you know my crafty art is a hobby and I have an actual grown up job, which I will say allows me to be creative in different ways, so I do love it! But the last few weeks kinda kicked my butt and sucked some life out of me. Deadlines, staffing changes…and everything that comes along with that. Things are a little calmer even though there’s still many unknowns, but my mind has had some time to settle enough that I can spend time with my craft supplies again.
I haven’t played with my gelli plate for a while and was itching to pull it out…but I had a big stack of unused prints that I decided to use first!
I cut them down to fit n my gelli art journal, pulled out some stamps and had fun making these pages!
For mother’s day the kids (ok I bought them) gave me a set of water soluble pastels. I had to test them out and these pages were the perfect chance! I also used some stickers I made from scratch on a few of the pages.
Do you see the Heidi Swapp damask stamp….I was inspired by Lori who came across some of her damask stickers. Honestly can’t remember the last time I used this stamp!
I think these pages are my favourite in the bunch! The puff ball flower stamp is another long forgotten stamp I dug out. And I’ve used it multiple times since!!
The bits of yellow & white on these pages are from the pastels. I combined them with these fun Wendy Vecchi leafy stamps, a Tim Holtz quote stamp and some Tim Holtz washi tape.
This one is kinda out of my comfort zone, it’s the pink I know it! LOL But the stitch stamps & words stamps make it work!
This last one almost didn’t make it into the book…ok I actually dug it out of the trash & went for it. The thing I love about working in art journals is really the end result doesn’t matter as much as the process of creating. So with that little reminder in my head I decided to add these to the journal….and even braved sharing them!
Putting these pages together didn’t take long, they aren’t masterpieces…..but they were fun and I rediscovered some much loved stamps along the way. 🙂
We all have stress and pressure in our lives that hits us through different forms, our art is about us, it’s about letting go, it’s about having FUN! So don’t pressure yourself to create a masterpiece every time you sit at the table…let go of all expectations and just enjoy the process!
Ok lecture over………go create! 🙂
