Welcome to another Sunday with me, I hope you enjoy this weeks project!
Since I started getting into altered art and mixed media I don’t look at things the same. When I get new products I find myself looking at the packaging, some companies have great packaging that can be used on any project!
A while back I bought these fund Kaiser Kraft wood embellishments, the packaging is cute, but not practical once open. So I opened both sets and put the pieces into a small bin for storage. BUT I did NOT throw out the little wooden boxes, they were just begging to be used!
I also found in my stash another little wooden box from embellishments bought long ago, with the three I was ready to have some fun! I started by gluing them together to make one bigger piece with all the fun little compartments.
As the boxes dried I dug through all my bins of different embellishments to find pieces that would fit in the little sections!
Once I had all my bits & bobs I added gesso to the box to prime it up. Then added a layer of Finnabair patina paste and some rust paste. The patina paste ended up brighter than I wanted to I added some brown Dylusions spray over top to tone it down. Once I had the base color the way I wanted it I dry brushed the copper patina paste over top.
The end result of the all the layers was better than I expected!!! Once that was all dry it was time to fill all the different sections. I picked up some of the new 7 gypsies adhesive sheets that Lori just brought in. The worn wood and wallpaper looks of these sheets were the perfect backdrop for all my findings!
Almost all of the embellishments got a coat of black gesso to start, then I used Finnabair wax in brass and copper to bring out the highlights on each piece! This gentleman you see here is a Tim Holtz stamp.
This fine little lady I found on 7 gypsies Ephemera tags, I thought she made the perfect partner for the gentleman!
This light bulb is one of the new custom chipboard pieces Lori is selling in store…..I LOVE IT! Pretty sure she had these made just for me 😉
Since we’re talking about packaging if you buy any of the new 7 gypsies items Lori brought in, there’s lots to choose from, the packaging is amazing! Do not waste it!
I hope you enjoyed my project today and that I’ve made you take a second look at all the packaging that your fun scrappy, artsy, crafty stuff comes in!
wow! Beautiful Lisa! I’ve wondered what could be done with those boxes! That’s a smart idea! Thanks for sharing
