Is it summer yet? Can I go back to my happy place at the lake?
Each of the last years when I’ve driven to the Love is in the Details store in Winkler, I see the fields of sunflowers with their heads turning to follow the sun. It never fails to cheer me! Well, that and the prospect of seeing Lori again and coming home with some more fun crafting supplies.
I made a couple of cards using the Memory Box Bountiful Sunflower die. It’s a two part die, but really, the main part could stand alone if you wanted it to. I cut the dies from watercolor paper and then painted them in shades of yellow and orange making the background pieces slightly darker than the foreground petals. And I took very little care, just blobbing the color on here and there and letting it blend together as it wanted.
And then I rifled through the stash basket to find bits and pieces I could combine with the painted sunflowers to create a card with. Some Elle’s studio and Kaisercraft die cuts, Crate Paper enamel dots and sequins, and old Making Memories butterfly die cuts. For this card, I pulled out a Cuttlebug embossing folder for the background.
It might not be quite summer yet, but these cards make me feel like it’s right around the corner! Thanks for stopping by today!
