I thought some more passport covers would be fun!
And that way I could experiment with all the different ideas I had in my head to try with this material.
What I found was, pretty much anything works! Stamping, painting, inking, heat and dry embossing and sewing!
This one got a repeating pattern stamp treatment. I masked off the edge of the paper/fabric so I could stamp up to, but not over the edge. Then I sewed on a fabric label I had cut out of a shirt and saved for just such a project as this! With the honest-to-goodness button closure, it works quite wonderfully!
For the next passport cover I inked the raised side of an embossing folder with brown ink and carefully ran it through the BigKick embossing machine.
I was very pleased with how well that worked! Another label sewn on the front before sewing up the sides and this was an easy 15 min/max project!
This last one was an easy background stamp, sew on another fun label and call it done! And incidentally, Lori has the PERFECT travel/world stamp in the store! I’m giving you a head start to add it to your cart before I get there!
Then I started to play with the white Kraft-Tex.
I stamped multiple postage and travel themed images over each other, running over the edges to the back and inside. I painted them using Tim Holtz distress inks and markers and a paint brush with plenty of water.
I stamped with black Stazon because it doesn’t run when it gets wet, because I let the water run well outside the lines for a loose and messy look. The “explore” stamp is heat embossed with black powder.
These last two covers were a chance to use some other world/travel related stamps I have. And mess around with more water color painting too of course!
Finally, I had one small piece of paper/fabric left over and I ran it through the BigKick with a few different leaf dies.
I’m quite happy to have this little stash just waiting for the perfect little leathery leaf to complete it. Like these two cards!
Wow, that was a lot for today’s post! Bravo, if you’ve stuck with me all the way to the end! Lori has had some rolls come into the store, but they’ve gone as quick as they came! However, she has bolts of Kraft-Tex coming soon too, so let her know you wanna getcha some and she’ll make sure you do!
